Request A Tour

Come see Acton in action.

We have year-round admissions. If you’re looking to join now or for when your child is finally five, start your audition today!

Required reading before requesting a tour

Please review the following resources before requesting a tour to make sure you understand as much as possible about our model.

A tour is an opportunity for us to get to know you and you us. It is required that all parents/legal guardians (e.g. both mom and dad) attend the tour, as well as the child/children you are interested in enrolling. Siblings may join too.

You should also start reading Laura Sandefer's Courage to Grow. It is essential to understanding our process. If you'd like a physical copy, you can buy one on Amazon. If you'd like a free e-book copy, email us at [email protected] after filling out the tour form below.

How it works

The audition is a four-step journey.

The audition process is designed to make sure Acton is the right fit for your child and your family.

1

Do a Deep Dive

Before scheduling a tour, devour the required reading above — especially the FAQ, Learning Design, Spark Studio, and Elementary Studio pages, plus the Day in the Life video and Jeff Sandefer’s TEDx talk. We require this so families come to a tour already understanding our model, and so our learners (who help host tours) aren’t answering the same baseline questions every visit.

2

Request a Tour

Fill out the form at the bottom of this page. We’ll reach out within a few days to ask a few questions about your family and learn what you’re looking for. If we feel your family might be a good fit, we’ll send instructions for setting up the actual tour. The child or children you’re interested in enrolling must attend, along with all parents or legal guardians.

3

Schedule a Follow-Up Video Call

After the tour, we’ll schedule a 30 to 60 minute video call. The tour is your chance to get to know us; this call is our chance to get to know your family. We want to make sure everyone who joins understands what Acton entails and that it’s a journey for the whole family — not just the child.

4

Schedule Shadow Days

Just like we believe in hands-on learning, we believe in “hands-on enrollment.” Your child or children will be allowed to attend for 1 to 5 days free to test if the model is right for them. You will drop them off as if they were enrolled, and they will have a buddy who helps them learn about our systems and processes.

In some cases, we may request that your child join a group of our learners for a play date to get a better idea of how they interact with others. The play date may be in addition to a Shadow Day or as a substitute.

If we believe our Acton would be a good fit for your family, we will invite you to join. Congratulations — your family's Hero's Journey begins.
